Grade 0
Norden international school of Helsinki starts organizing the class for Grade 0 (Age 5-7).
Grade 0, also known as pre-primary or reception, is the first year of formal education in some countries. At the Norden school, Grade 0 serves as an introduction to school life and aims to provide children with a solid foundation in basic literacy and numeracy skills, as well as social and emotional development.
Goals / Objectives
The goal of grade 0 is to prepare children for more formal academic learning in the years to come. By providing a nurturing and supportive environment, children can begin to develop a love for learning and gain the confidence they need to succeed in school.
Curriculum
The curriculum in grade 0 focuses on building fundamental skills such as recognizing letters and numbers, understanding basic math concepts, and developing social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and following rules.
In addition to academic learning, grade 0 also provides opportunities for children to develop their physical and creative abilities through play and exploration. Children may participate in activities such as drawing, painting, music, and physical education to help develop their fine and gross motor skills.
